Baseplate strips Die of Death down to its purest form. This minimalist flat map removes environmental complexity entirely, creating matches where ability usage and movement skill determine outcomes exclusively. No cover, no corridors, no elevation changes — just open space and player skill.
On Baseplate, Killer selection matters enormously. Pursuer and Killdroid with their speed and ranged advantages dominate, while Badware's area control provides less value without chokepoints. Artful's Decoy confuses less in open space where direction is obvious.
Civilians must select mobility abilities for Baseplate survival. Dash and Cloak become near-mandatory, with Revolver providing stun windows in the absence of environmental cover. Teams without mobility abilities face extremely low survival rates on this map.
Baseplate serves as the ultimate skill test for Die of Death players. Rankings and ability tier lists become most accurate on this map because environmental factors cannot mask ability imbalance. Competitive players often use Baseplate to evaluate true ability power levels.
One Bounce Gamemode on Baseplate creates the most intense 1v1 scenarios in Die of Death, with a single Civilian facing multiple Killers on open ground.
